Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? RV Colonel Otoe (Hotshot), Man Named Jed (2017 brown gelding by A Crack Shot x Grannys Tonic by Pulling Your Leg, Montana Bred) and Ms Silky Drift ("Butter" 2019 dun mare by Driften On The Ebb x Silky Flash, Montana Bred)
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? Hotshot is super quick footed, so he gives me the fastest shot possible. He loves treats, his friend Truey, and trying to untie himself. Hotshot is 15 hands and weighs probably 1150 pounds. Jed is 16 hands and weighs 1400.
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2025 circuit finals? My favorite memories were being able to travel to the Canadian co-approved rodeos with my sister Molly and friend Charley Yeager. The rodeos were great to be able to go to, but the memories we made going there were even better! 2025 was a great year for my horse, he felt the best he has yet. I was also fortunate to have Jed step up at certain times to give Hotshot breaks from traveling, something I think helped keep his mind right this year.
When did you start competing in breakaway? I probably started competitively roping around the age of 5 or 6.
How long have you been a WPRA member and how many finals qualifications? I have been a member for 10 years, this is my 4th qualification in the breakaway.
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? We purchase all of our horses. I don’t have anything specific I look for. Jed and Hotshot are complete opposites. Jed is all running bred, where Hotshot and Butter are all foundation cow horse bred.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? My horses are exercised and roped on opposite days, with rest days after competitions. I try and workout 3-5 days a week.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? Molly and I mostly listen to music or podcasts.
Do you have favorite spots to stop or snacks while on the road? I love a good Town Pump to get 5 cents off diesel and to get a cheese and iced tea/Celcius depending on what time of day it is!
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? Molly and I tend to fill a trailer, but if we have room, Charley will hop in with us! Molly usually has her breakaway horse (Puddles) and barrel horse (Boo), and I have any combination of Hotshot, Jed, or Goat, my other barrel horse.
What or who are you thankful for? II am thankful for my parents for helping me practice and giving me advice in all areas whenever I need it. I am thankful for Molly and Charley Yeager for being the greatest travel partners and helpers whenever/wherever it is needed, for my husband for taking care of all of our prospects at home and helping me keep a positive mindset, and especially all the horses it takes to make it!
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? I like to start young horses, and coach youth sports whenever I have time.
