2025 Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finalist Makenna Ellerman

Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? I’m taking “Bob” Travelin Bob, to the circuit finals.

What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? Bob thinks he’s a dog, he loves attention and loves. His strengths are his speed and scoring! Bob is 15’1 and weighs 1200

What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2025 circuit finals? Lots of good memories traveling with Teka. Big Fork is always my favorite Montana rodeo for the golfing and lake days

When did you start competing in breakaway? I’ve been breakaway roping since I was about 12 years old

Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? We breed and raise a lot of our own but will always buy a good prospect if they’re what we’re looking for! I was raised on the race track, and still believe speed is irreplaceable. So speed is always a must. We do look for a cross in our rope horses and personally have had good luck with Miss N Cash and High Brow Cat.

What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? I rope the sled and live calves a lot on my young horses but as soon as I know Bob is running and scoring he mostly gets long trotted and loped in the pasture. I try to lift when I’m home!

When you're headed to a rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? Traveling to rodeos I listen to a mix of podcasts and music, I’m not biased.

What or who are you thankful for? I’m thankful for my amazing travel partner Teka, my husband Brit, sister-in-law Taya, my parents and in laws, and rodeo committees who have added breakaway

Do you have favorite spots to stop at or favorite snacks while on the road? I’ll stop about anywhere as long as I can get flavor blasted Goldfish and a Celsius. Starbucks whenever we can

Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? I travel with Teka Larson and our two corgis, Buster and Grizz :)

What are your hobbies or other sports do you compete in? I’m a financial advisor (if jobs are hobbies?) we team rope, Ranch, and ski if we can sneak away
