Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? Smoothmove Ta Heaven
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)?“Heaven” is very independent minded and she always has a good attitude. She is more of a free runner. Her strength is how fast she is. I am mostly trying to keep her speed under control when I run her. 15 Hands/1100 lbs
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2025 circuit finals?
Obstacles included figuring out how much to let her run while trying to keep her shape going into each barrel. Favorite memories include juggling barrels, breakaway, my husband calf roping, and having 3 little kids that go with us everywhere! It can be stressful but we make the best memories rodeoing.
How long have you been a WPRA member and how many circuit finals have you qualified for? Competed 2 years in the barrels. This is my first circuit finals in the barrels. 5th consecutive year to qualify in the breakaway.
When did you start competing in barrels?
6 years old
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? My family raises their own barrel horses going back three generations. This is a mare my mom Roxie and brother, Colt trained.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? Heaven gets exercised daily. I weight train 4-5 days/week.
When you're headed to a rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? All the above. We spend a lot of time in the truck so we change it up often!
What or who are you thankful for? My mom Roxie, and dad Clay. They take Heaven to all the circuit rodeos for me and do everything to get her ready. I have three kids to take care of, and am usually focused on my roping. Most of the time they even warm Heaven up for me, so I can just jump on and run her! They are also a big help watching my kids as well.
Do you have favorite spots to stop at or favorite snacks while on the road?
We love going to local coffee shops, Taco Time, huckleberry milkshake stands, and getting a good steak!
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? I travel with my husband Landon, and three kids (Honor, Wyatt, and Win). We have all of our rope horses and kids ponies.
What are your hobbies or other sports do you compete in? We usually spend any extra time we have roping. When we get the chance, we love to go skiing as well.
