Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? I will be taking “KN Fames Best Yet” aka “Yeti” (2018 Gelding by Dash ta Fame x KN Fabulous and Khaki by Frenchmans Fabulous, Texas Bred), and “JM PocketsDoubleDash aka “Lizard” (2013 Brown Gelding by Guyspocketfullofcash x Katys Perks by Dash For Perks, Kansas Bred, PESI enrolled)
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2025 circuit finals? We decided to step out more this year and see how we could do in the world standings as well. This meant I had to be more consistent and take it one run at a time since I wasn’t able to hit as many circuit rodeos. I knew this would be hard so my goal was to make it to the circuit finals. I am so proud of the boys, even after all of the miles and runs, they put me third coming into the circuit finals.
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? Lizard is a push style as I have to ride him square into the pocket. Yeti is more of a free runner. Both are very honest and love to run. Lizard is very sweet but has a spunky side. Yeti is a love and just wants as much attention as he possibly can get, however when you get on him, it's go time! Lizard is around 15.3 hh and weighs about 1150 lbs. Yeti is around 16.3 hh and weighs about 1250 lbs.
When did you start competing in barrels?
I started competing by myself at the age of 3.
How long have you been a WPRA member and how many circuit finals have you qualified for? I bought my permit in 2020 and 2021 was my Rookie year. This is my 5th year being a card member and my 5th circuit finals.
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? Lizard we've had since he was 6 months old. Yeti was a bit of a surprise 2 years ago as we were not planning on gaining a family member, but we are very thankful we did. We love breeding such as Frenchman’s Guy and Dash for Cash, etc.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? We mainly do conditioning exercises such as long trotting and drills. We work the pattern usually 2-3 times a week depending on if there is something we need to work on. For myself, I workout 3-4 days a week mainly focusing on core exercises.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books?
Mainly we have the radio playing, but I love to read or sleep while in the truck. We also listen to mentally toughening tapes.
What or who are you thankful for?
I am thankful for my parents, Rick and Deena, who have given me everything, taught me all that I know, and are there for me through the ups and downs. I couldn’t do this without them. This year, I am thankful for all of the people that cheered for me while we were out on the road. It meant so much to us to know we had a lot of people behind us.
Do you have favorite spots to stop at or snacks while on the road? For the horses, we try to find places where we can turn the horses out to run and stretch their legs. Most of the time, they stall next to the trailer where they are the most comfortable. For us, we love to stop at Maverik gas stations.
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? We have our dogs, Zeke and Nyx, that go everywhere with us and sometimes JM LenasFrenchLady (Lately) will come along as well as a buddy horse. We have an Elite Living Quarters and a F-350 dually.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? Rodeo, rodeo, and more rodeo. I also used to breakaway rope.
