So last week I was up in Jackson, MS. I wasn’t expecting much from Hess since I hadn’t ridden him and Harley for a couple weeks. Hess did better than I thought and was sitting 6th after slack and then bumped down to 7th after the first perf. There are more to go, so I don’t have my hopes too high:). It’s a smaller pen with decent ground. He liked it a lot last year, and pulled a healthy check. We ran against quite a few of the NFR girls in slack, so I was pretty satisfied.
I was then entered in San Angelo on Monday for all the girls first go. They then take the top 96 back in the perfs. I was first out and thought it started at 10:00am. Little did I know it was starting at 9:00am! It was about 15 til and I did not have Hess out of his stall! We cut it way too close, and I barely made my run. I was really upset at myself. I hate the feeling of not being prepared, but I am sure it has happened to all of us at one time or another:). He made a good clean run, but felt a little deep. They run us all in a different barn for our first go and then if you make it to your second go they run us in the perfs in the coliseum. I figured I would run Hess in the barn and if we made it to the second go I would run Harley in the coliseum. I have yet to call to see if I even made it.
This week has started out and will continue to be busy. I fly out on Thursday morning for NWRA/NRA finals in Billings, MT. I am leasing a horse for that. Katie Rasmussen has been over the top kind enough to let me lease her great horse Dave! I am very excited about it! I have never ridden him, but we will hopefully have time on Thursday afternoon to maybe get the feel of each other;)! Thanks Rasmussens!!!
The following Sunday of the finals, I am flying to Tucson, AZ for the pro rodeo and then maybe hit a barrel race or two and then I am up in Scottsdale, AZ.
This whole southern weather has been hard to cooperate with:). It has been snowing and raining non stop. It’s been anywhere from 20s to 40s. I feel like I am at home again! They say it’s supposed to be warming up here soon. We will have to see it to believe it.
Thank you for listening!

Well not too much has happened since I last wrote.
Last week we left for Montana to do a few more things and be there for the Montana Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame induction. It was a great experience and I will look forward to going again next year! The plan was to fly to MT and do a few things and then meet my parents in Rapid City for the rodeo. All was going well until my parents had some truck trouble. So I had to turn out. It’s been a bummer as I’ve been watching the barrels each night wishing I was running Harley. I think he would have loved this pen:). But will just have to wait until next year. Jesse is up on Saturday and then we will leave after that and head back to Texas.
It was a blast coming back to MT and not having to worry about anything. We got to go snowboarding at Red Lodge and then headed to Big Sky to rent some snowmobiles:). It was a blast!
I ended up trading my horse trailer in for a three-horse 4-Star trailer. I have yet to see it in person, but trusted my parents’ opinion on it! I am entered in Jackson, MS for next week:)!
Thanks for listening! Lindsay

The finals are next week and I am getting very excited!
I got to run both horses last weekend, on Saturday they had a barrel race in Helena. I decided to take the martingale off Hess and just cruise him through. He ended up winning it:)! I was very pleased with him, considering it was his first run back. Harley would have been second but we tipped third. The next day I went to Vaughn. I thought it might be good to run in a bigger pen to open him up. He worked awesome! He won it by two tenths. This is the best he has felt in a really long time! Harley had an ok run and was at the bottom of the 1-d.
I had forgotten to buy my card in time for Denver, so that was pretty upsetting. I entered Rapid City and I think I am gonna head to Fort Worth after that and stay in Texas for the month of February. :)! I am excited to get out of the cold for a bit!
Thanks for listening!

The weekend before last I went to the King Arena, Harley did well winning first:). He has been handling the gate issue really well lately! I am hoping he gets over it completely by the winter rodeos.
I decided to not go to any barrel races this past weekend. I ended up catching one of my thumb nails and almost ripping it off, it was hanging by a thread. They had to insert it back into the root. So it should hopefully fall off here soon.
I was able to ride Hess last week. He feels really good! He even tried to buck me off on the second day:).
This weekend I am going to run at the Helena Fairgrounds on Sunday, I am not sure about Great Falls yet. Then I leave for Las Vegas on Monday for a week:)! It's going to be hard to sit at home for the first four days, but hopefully this week will go by fast! Thanks for listening!

I just want to say that I have enjoyed writing these blogs very much! I will be sad when it comes to an end!
This last weekend was the Three Can Tango. Jeanne always puts on a great show! On Friday for the jackpot they got about 115 girls, I ran Harley and won second. I was very pleased with him. On Saturday I ended up tipping third, but he clocked really well, and would have won me some money in the 1-d and qualified me for the short go. On Sunday he made an ok run, but not good enough to get me to the short go. He is a very tough horse, fun but hard at the same time! He is only 7, so I know he's just learning!:)
This weekend I am headed to the Great Falls for the NBHA state finals. It is going to be in the Vaughn arena. I haven't got to run there in quite some time!
I am looking forward to the WPRA finals coming up! It will be nice to have it around the same time as the NILE:)! It should be a fantastic turnout! Lana, you do a wonderful job!!! Many thanks to all the hard work you do, you are well appreciated!
I took Hess in, to do his ultrasound, and meanwhile we had already sent in his blood to do some testing. Well, we received it back to find that he has EPM, which is possum disease, it can be treated. He got it while in TX this past fall. It can live in their system for a year. It will start to affect their nerves and makes them lose the feeling of certain muscles. He will be on an 8 week treatment starting now. And of course there was no tear! :) surprise, surprise! :). It just showed me how tough he is! He treated me so well this summer! The most important thing is that he will be ok. When I get him back into shape I am not gonna push him. So Harley just might be run at circuit finals!
Thanks for listening!

Well, this year has definitely been a year of change, and it hasn't been for the good. I haven't noticed Hess being off or lame at all. Labor Day weekend he made 5 runs and they were all the same run. Not good at all. So I took him to MT Equine and they said he had soreness in his right hind above the fetlock. They ended blocking him to determine it wasn't in any of his joints. They said to put him on stall rest for a week and bring him in again to do an ultrasound. So he has an appointment this coming Thursday.
Either way he is getting turned out for 8 weeks. Now it’s Harley’s turn:) I am very excited to start running him again! We ran at the Scott Owens benefit in Townsend this past weekend and Harley ended up 4th. I was pretty pleased with it. I am excited to start running indoors with him!
As far as Hess goes, if it’s something that has to be treated for 6 months or so, I am ready to let Harley shine:) Considering how long Hess has been feeling this way I am very proud of him! He has such a big heart and tries for me every time!
My plans for this weekend are the Three Can Tango Friday-Sunday. The weekend after that I am going to the NBHA state finals. There's a few coming up that will keep my occupied for a while! My parents are leaving for Texas the first of November, and I have decided to stay until after finals. I have a trip planned the end of October to head to Cabo, Mexico, for a week! I am very excited about it. It will be a great break:)! Thanks for listening!!
August 31, 2009
I was up in Couer d' Alene for the pro rodeo that was co-sanctioned with Montana. It went ok, he made a nice run, but didn't clock as well as it felt:)
I then left to Boulder with Harley. The ground was shifty and he didn't seem to like it all. I had entered the Barrel of Gold with both horses. I was pretty bummed that I couldn't make both days, but I at least got to make it for Sunday. I ran Hess first and he did pretty well winning fourth. Harley was making a nice run, but we hit third. I've been kinda slacking on Harley, because of how busy it has been with the pros. The Barrel of Gold had an amazing turnout, as usual. We appreciate all the hard work that goes into it!
The rodeos are winding down, with only Labor Day weekend and two more co sanctioned rodeos left. I am excited about being able to focus on Harley when I turn Hess out for six weeks. There are some good barrel races coming up:). This weekend I am heading to Ellensburg for the first go on Thursday morning. Depending how you do, determines how you come back for your second go. I am then entered in Hamilton, Helmville, Plains, Dillon and White Sulphur Springs. It will be the last busy weekend of the year:)!
Thanks for listening!!

Sorry I haven't written in a while, my life has been chaotic lately, and rodeo is coming to an end.
Last weekend I ran at Missoula on friday and it went pretty well, condidering the rain. I ended up 7th. We headed to Fort Benton for slack Saturday morning. Hess made a nice run winning 3rd. I was then up in Billings on Saturday night and decided to just run Hess. It was on the track and the pattern was very narrow and small. He handled it like a champ and won first. It helps going to the bigger ones to try and make finals.
So just this weekend I was up in Kalispell on Thursday slack after the perf. The ground was on the harder side, but good. He ran a decent run and we ended up 3rd.
I then headed to the barrel race in Havre to make a run on Harley. He ran ok, but ended up tipping second. I decided to run Hess in the slot race. He did not like the ground at all and scattered. He still clocked and got 4th. The next day I just ran Hess and won 2nd. The ground was a little dryer and had more grip than the night before. So overall it was a pretty good weekend:)
This next weekend I am up in Coeur d’ alene on Saturday night and am goning to try and do Boulder and the Barrel of Gold for Harley.
I just want to say how sorry and saddened I am for Jill Miller!! I am so sorry! All of our thoughts and prayers go out to you! We are here for you!!!
August 6, 2009
I will start off with this past weekend. I was up in Helena in the first perf. The new facility is just beautiful! The ground was new, but good. Hess ended up 7th overall. We were then off to Lewistown for slack Friday morning. Harley got by his second which cost us. We then were off to Columbia Falls for the perf. that night. Harley did well, placing 2nd!
I was up in slack at Libby on Saturday morning. Hess did well, coming in first. Then it was off to Eureka, for the perf. that night. I decided to run Hess. He came in 2nd, with being at the bottom of the ground. I was very proud of him!
This last weekend I was up in Great Falls on Tuesday, it decided to rain and Hess still held in there for 5th place. I had only entered Gillette and opted to not drive to Plentywood. We tipped our first barrel, so that was disapointment, but it happens.
Thanks everybody for all you support and prayers, in this hard time. God bless!
July 26, 2009
I went to Havre on Friday for the perf. Shelley was winning it with a 15.21 from slack and there were a couple of .2s from the first perf. and a couple a .3s. Hess made a nice run and had even popped off his third barrel and was 14.91! I was so proud of him!
We then headed to Shelby for Saturday perf. The ground was slick and Hess tried for me and didn't want to take any tight turns.
So we ended up 8th.
I was up in slack at Stanford on Sunday morning. He made a nice run and got 4th. I got to run Harley at Three Forks and we ended up second:)
This weekend I am entered in Helena, Libby, for the pros and Lewistown, Col. Falls and Eureka for the others [NRA].
July 17, 2009
This last weekend went pretty good! I was up in Wolf Point on Thursday. Hess made a nice smooth run. We ended up tying for third place. I then was up in Cheney, WA on Friday slack. I decided to not go and let Hess rest, and not have to travel all night and all morning. He doesn't need all the stress from traveling if we dont have to:)
We then left to head back to Winston, cause I wasn’t up until Saturday morning slack in East Helena (NRA Rodeo). I decided to run Hess since it pays pretty well. He made a good run and even went by his first, he still won it by 2 tenths. Jill Miller was second on Willie and Annie Novotny was third, Shelley ended up in there with Flick.
I was then off to Butte for the perf. that night. The ground was really deep, but safe. I was sixth out, and
he tried his heart out for me and we ended up second! I was very proud of him this weekend!
Hess is a very high maintenance as far as his chiropractic goes. I bring him to Sid Erickson almost every week! Sid was out of town the week after the fourth of July run and wasn't able to be put in, but Hess handled the traveling and all the runs I made on him, from last week to this weekend!
My plans for this weekend are, Three Forks (NRA Rodeo) on Friday morning, Havre Friday night, and Shelby Saturday night and Stanford Sunday morning:)! I might try to hit a barrel race on Sunday afternoon with Harley:)! Thanks for listening and God Bless!
July 9, 2009
Let’s start with last weekend. I was up in Polson on Friday in the perf. Hess made an ok run and ended up fourth. The ground wasn't near as nice as it was last year, but Hess handled it fine. We then hit a barrel race in Kalispell on our way to Chinook. I just ran Harley. He made a very nice run and clocked in the 2-d. We then headed to Chinook. Hess wasn’t flexing that well, but still ended up fifth. We were then on our way to Augusta for the afternoon perf. He made about the same run he did in Chinook and was fifth again. So all together it was a pretty good weekend!
We sold our trailer to a guy in Canada. He took it while we were in Chinook and my Dad met us with the stock trailer, so the whole way there I was looking for a trailer. I ended up finding one that Luke and I can afford on our own. It was set to be delivered on Wednesday before the fourth. So Mom and I hopped in the stock trailer and headed to Livingston slack. Last year Hess had a very good run there, placing fifth. We got there and they had added 300 yards of sand. All weekend I drew up in slack and at the bottom of the ground. Hess struggled and stalled out on each barrel I was a .8 and last hole was a .7.
Then we were off to Red Lodge slack on Thursday morning. It was a beautiful morning until about twenty into the barrels. I was 77 out and the ground seemed to be holding up, (considering the mud):) Hess got last hole.
We left to go to Cody slack on Friday morning. He made a decent run, but got by our first a little. He clocked a .5 and last hole was a .4.
I was up in Choteau slack to run Harley. He went quite a ways by our first.. Again no money:)!
I was then up in slack once again at Drummond! He felt very good and wanted to run. We tipped second barrel, and I just decided to let him run through at his own speed. He still clocked pretty good.
It wasn't near the week I wanted, but that’s rodeo, full of ups and downs! I have now gotten it off my chest and am ready for this weekend. I am up at Wolf Point on Thursday, Cheney on Friday slack, East Helena on Saturday morning slack, and Butte on Saturday night perf. For the first time in a long time, I will be able to go with Luke to a rodeo. It makes it so hard to try and get on the same schedules. He is in a few different associations as I am too:) It’s nice to come home and regroup for a little bit...
Thanks for listening and good luck down the road!!
June 25, 2009
I was up in Gardiner [NRA Rodeo] in slack on Friday. We got there and the ground was sandy, with a hard pan underneath. Harley handled the ground very well. I decided to not pressure him at all, but just let him do his own thing. He ended up winning first. I was very excited for the both of us.
Then it was off to the Belt Pro rodeo for the Saturday perf. I left our place around two o'clock and it had been raining off and on all morning. So I got to Belt and it was just an overcast, but no rain. I went in the arena to let him [Hess] roll, and then went to enter. As soon as I stepped outside it started to pour! The ground had looked awesome! So it then rained during the whole rodeo! I was first out and didn't really know how to judge the ground, other than watching the calf ropers. It was still hard to judge whether it still had some grip or what. My dad said to just let him pick his speed and that it wasn't worth hurting him for one rodeo. So I did just that and ended up third overall. I was very proud of Hess handling himself and the ground the he did.
It’s now off to Polson for Friday perf. Kalispell barrel race on Saturday morning for Harley and then to Chinook for Saturday night perf. and Augusta perf. on Sunday afternoon:) It will be a busy weekend! Thanks for listening!
June 15, 2009
So this past weekend I was up in Cody, WY, on Friday night, and then Vaughn, MT, on Saturday morning slack, and then it was off to Conrad, MT (for an NRA Rodeo). So lets start with Friday:) The ground at Cody is usually not that great, but this year it seemed to be the best I have ever seen it! Hess made a pretty nice run for our first opener of the season. He ended up splitting fourth! Then in order to make slack at nine in the morning in Vaughn, we had to drive all night. We decided to stop at our place in Winston for about two hours and let the horses rest in their own pen. Then got up, and left at six in the morning to head to Vaughn. We arrived at Vaughn and the ground was actually deep! I have never been there when it has been deep! I was tenth out on the rake and the pattern was off to the right with an alley way. My plan was to get in and move over, but Hess didn’t have the same thing in mind:) He decided to just take off right from the gate. He made a nice clean run, but seemed to struggle with the ground a bit. He ended up winning third. I was so happy for our first runs of the WPRA pro rodeos!
I then decided to run Harley at the rodeo in Conrad. I was up in slack, and what was leading it was .6. My plan was to just make a good clean run with him (since I hadn’t had a good run on him for a couple weeks). He did just that, and ran a .57 to win it! I was very pleased with him! He is not really the style I am used to but we are definitely starting to figure each other out!
This weekend my plan is to head to the Gardiner NRA Rodeo on Friday, and then I am up in Belt for the WPRA pro rodeo on Saturday night.
It’s gonna be more of a relaxing weekend:) I appreciate you listening, and God Bless!
June 12, 2009
Last weekend Monica Gruel put on a barrel race in Great Falls Friday through Sunday. I was looking so forward to running outside all three days. On Friday it did end up being outside. They got seventy-plus girls. Shelley Murphy made a nice run on Flick and won it with a 17.202. I haven’t gotten a chance to run Hess since Cloverdale, so I was just hoping to make a nice clean confidence building run:) He did just that winning second with a 17.207. Harley on the other hand figured out what it’s like to run outside:) He did ok, but not what he can do. It’s just part of the whole process of figuring things out in all types arenas.
So for the next two days it decided to rain and they moved the barrel race to the King Arena. It wasn’t what we all expected but it’s better than nothing. The boys didn’t seem to care for the hard ground there, but Hess still pulled a check in the 1-d both days. Harley on the other hand was in the 2-d all three days:) It was nice to have it WPRA sanctioned, so that we can get some money built up for Tulsa in November.
Rocky got sent to California last week for some people to try him. We have some wonderful friends that advertise horses we sell.
It was very hard to see him go, but I know he will find a wonderful home! Last year we had bought a horse named Jamaka from the Darlingtons in Big Sandy, MT. I got to ride him a couple months and then we sent him to the same people we just sent Rocky to. Jamaka has been doing wonderful. She got to run him and Rocky last weekend at the NBHA barrel race in Las Vegas that was WPRA sanctioned too. She ended up fifth in the 1-d on the first day running Jamaka out of 800 plus girls! We were so proud of her! She had just got Rocky the day before and decided to just hop on cold turkey. She had a nice run but tipped third barrel. He clocked realy well for her to just hop on and go—Jamaka was a .4 and Rocky was a .6. So we were pretty proud:)
We are on our way to the WPRA pro rodeo in Cody, WY. It is MT sanctioned. I am up in the perf. and it starts at eight. We will leave as soon as I get done running and head to the Vaughn pro rodeo for slack in the morning. I am so excited for the WPRA pro rodeos to get started up! good luck to everyone on the road!
June 1, 2009
On May 20th I ran Rocky for the first time since he has been laid off. I had only been riding him for three weeks. I decided to run him at our local BSBRA barrel races on Wednesday night. They had 70 entries and it was an outside standard pattern. I let him pick his speed and he ended up winning it by 3 tenths with a 17.7. I was very happy for his first run back!
I then headed to the Lynda Ottun Memorial barrel race. I decided to run Harely all three days and Rocky for one, because it is a small arena and our goal is to get them to open up not get too ratey. Harely and I tipped a barrel the first day and Rocky and I had a nice run but not at the speed I wanted. Theresa Walter ended up winning all three days! The second day Harley went by his first and clocked a .4, which was not good enough for any money. So by that time I was pretty upset with myself for not riding him the way I know I can. On the third day he ran a .1 and that put us sixth overall. So everybody that pre-enters gets split into groups of four and at the end of the race they add up everybody's "group" times and the group that has the fastest average time each member wins saddle. My group ended up being the fastest overall average time and we won the saddles! We were all so very excited!! It ended up being a great weekend!
This weekend I plan to head to Great Falls, for the three day barrel race that Monica Gruel is putting on. It has a $1000 added each day and is WPRA co approved!! Iam gonna run all three horses. I have not run Hess since Cloverdale, BC. I need to get back on him and get him ready for Vaughn, MT and Cody, WY. Both are WPRA rodeos. Cody, WY is co sanctioned with MT circuit. I am getting so excited for the WPRA rodeos to start up! So until next, time God Bless!
May 17, 2009
We are on our way back home from Cloverdale, BC. We did not get done what we wanted but appreciated the invite!
The arena is smaller deep sandy pen and they set the pattern at an angle. It’s more of a difficult pattern. So on our first go Hess didn't open up at all, and made our time really slow. I was pretty bummed out about it and thought I better put a little more speed to it for our second go. I did just that, and ended up blowing our first by quite a bit! I ended up 9th and they pay 8 each go . . . So it’s off to the next race . . .
Jill Miller ended up getting a little money out of it in her second go and Terri Kay Kirkland got a little money her first go and Shelly Anzick is doing very well by placing in both go rounds and coming back in the top four for the short go on Monday! So Annie Novotny and I had a little hard luck, but we’re just excited about being there! It was a wonderful experience and enjoyed the hospitality! All of the contestants recieved three hundred dollars for their time and travels up to Canada . . .
Luke and I had a chance to go to cowboy church this morning and enjoyed hearing from some of the cowboys tell a little bit about their faith. It's always nice to see some of the best cowboys come and give their testimonies.
So with all that being said my plan is to head to the Lynda Ottun Memorial Barrel race next weekend. I plan on just running Harley there.
Thank you for listening . . . Lindsay
May 13, 2009
This past weekend went well, I went to Great Falls on Saturday and ran Hess and Harley. It was Hess's first run back since before Dodge Circuit Finals. He did pretty well winning third with a 16.36. We almost tipped first barrel leaving it, but I managed to put it up with my hand, and still clocked decent. Harley won second with a 16.32 and Kaela Murphy won it on Flick with a 16.1.
So with some good runs indoors I thought I'd better make the four hr. trip to Polson for some outdoor runs. It went better than planned with Hess winning first out of 120+ girls. He a 17.5 on a standard and Shelley Murphy ended up second with a 17.6 on Flick. The ground felt quite deep compared to the WPRA rodeo they have there in the spring.
My goal was to just make some clean, confidence builder runs. Harley did well for our first run ever outside. He clocked a 17.9 that put us sixth in the 1-d. I was very pleased with both of their performances!
We are planning on leaving on Thursday for Cloverdale, BC. I will write and let you all know how things pan out each night.
Thanks for listening! God Bless.....! Lindsay
May 2 , 2009
This last week it snowed pretty bad for about three days straight. So I didn’t get a chance to ride, as
it was way too muddy after the storm had cleared up. So my plan was to head to Great Falls for a barrel race that was gonna be outside, but they had cancelled it from all the moisture. I really need to get some outside runs on Hess before Cloverdale arrives. It is only 2 weeks away and I haven’t run him outside for a couple months.
So next weekend there are a few barrel races outside that I will plan on heading to . . . Luke also got invited to cloverdale, so we will be leaving on May 15 and competing on the 16, 17 and the short go is Monday afternoon. We are looking very forward to it . . . !
Last weekend I got to run Harley and opted to stay off Hess. Harley did well winning second both days and winning the average. I was very pleased with his runs, considering the ground was pretty slick! Becky Toavs won the first day and Carmel Wright won the second day. It was an enjoyable weekend!
When we were down in Texas I had my other horse “Rocky” for sale. A college girl came to try him and ended up running him against the clock, and did really well. So they went on to have a vet check and the vet said he ended up having a suspensory problem in his right hind. I was in shock and couldn’t believe it. I have never had him show me any kind of soreness and I have never had his hocks injected. So the vet said that he will need to be off anywhere from 6 months to a year! So I put him in a stall and had my parents watch him while Luke and I came back to Montana. So I got a call from her last week wondering how he’s doing, so I said that we were planning on getting another ultrasound before he heads back to Montana. She then wanted an appointment before my Dad headed back home with Rocky. We made an appointment and my Dad took him in to find out that there is absolutely nothing. My vet said that in order to even get an accurate ultrasound you have to shave the leg. He said that the soreness from doing the flex test was from him needing his hocks injected. So the lady wanted us to deal on the price since he wasn’t in shape. But I wasn’t about to since it was her vet in the first place that misdiagnosed him!
So Rocky is on his way home with my Dad. I’ll be so happy to get him back in shape and running good again! So just make sure you always get a second opinion!!
With all that being said, I will keep you up-to-date about Cloverdale in a couple weeks!
Thanks for listening!!
April 21, 2009
It was so nice to see everyone this past weekend at the UBRC in Billings! They ended up getting a 100 girls the first day and 99 the next. Harley and I were 78th out on Saturday, and ended up making a nice smooth run that put us 3rd in the open. I was very pleased with his run. We ran a 14.3 and Deena Moeykens ended up winning it with a 14.2. She put together an awesome run! On Sunday we got by our first a little, and it cost us a bit by putting our time at a 14.4. I ended up 7th overall, but was happy to get two more runs under our belt. Shelly Anzick won the second day with her new horse "Phaser." She came in with 14.2 for the fastest run of the weekend!
It was a very wonderful and enjoyable weekend! Before I left for Billings I recieved a call from Judy Kessler. She began explaining that they have a rodeo in Cloverdale, BC in the middle of May. It's invitational only and has a short round of 50k. They pay your entry fees and three hundred dollars worth of fuel to get there and back. You run twice and only against your pool of girls. Then thay take the top 4 from each pool,to the short round to determine the winner. So there will be two sets of pools and only 24 girls competing. 12 girls in each pool. I am up twice on May 16. I think it is a wonderful experience and opportunity, and can't wait to compete! The girls say it is an outdoor pen with deeper sand, but a great facility! I will be competing on Hess.
I appreciate your listening, and until next time, God Bless!
April 14, 2009
Hello to everyone!
Well, to start off, I was approached by Denali Hauck and Lana Tibbetts about having a blog on our website about how the rodeo road is going, and just life in general. I feel very honored that they would ask me.
So, with that being said I appreciate all the hard work they put into this!!
My husband, Luke, and I just got back from Pocatello on Saturday night, and are enjoying being back in Montana. Dodge Finals didn't go as well as I had hoped. . . . We arrived on Saturday, April 4 and had gotten the horses all put away, and woke up Sunday morning to let them out of their stalls and into the arena to roll. As we were getting Hess out of his stall we noticed he was off in his right front. So we immediately called my vet and explained that there was fluid and it was a little hot. So he said that it sounds like he has a sprain and is gonna have to be off for a couple weeks. It was very upsetting, but you just have to learn to deal.
While we were down in Texas for the winter I purchased a horse from Deb Renger (a gelding called Harley, who is 7 yrs. old). So I decided that I would have to run him. We had just bought him only a few weeks before that, so I haven't had much time to get with him. On our first run he went by his first barrel which cost us quite a bit of time. So the next night I called Deb and she had us do a bit change, well, it was a little much, and made him snap back too hard on the back side of all three barrels, he did clock a little better than the first night but it wasn't enough to get us back into the top 8 average. We ended up 10th overall. So it's just part of getting with a new horse. I was very blessed, and happy just to be able to compete there. And hope to qualify again next year:)! So my plan is to head to the UBRC this weekend and get a few runs in with my new horse . . .
Thanks for listening, and I will write again soon!
