Rayna Rice, NFR and Multiple Circuit Finals Qualifer

Tell us about your horse(s) (age, personality, running style, where you got them, etc). Action For Cash RB, aka Chucky, is a 9 year old I have had since he was four. I bought him from Judy Myllymaki. He is more of a free running style—very easy to ride. He has come along way this year—I’m very proud of him. He is very easy to get along with—he comes running for his grain and likes to be turned out with a buddy. The aloneness is definitely not for him. If I would stay with him all the time he would be fine, but I like to ride in my truck better than the trailer!!

What horse(s) are you going to be riding at the circuit finals? I am actually riding my own horse this year, Chucky!! Never thought he was and indoor horse but he proved me wrong this year!! (Katie didn’t think it was a good idea to switch horses!)

Tell us about your rig and traveling partners. Miss Katie Rasmussen! You just can’t get any better than her!! Maybe it is our age (how young we are) but we really are on the same page!! I really think we brought each other good luck!! AND of course Shelby and Paige too! Paige is saying Hi to me now and Shelby is a rocking little barrel racer! And once even Flint!! He loved having one more girl in the rig!! I also traveled with my long-time good friend Jill Miller. I’m very lucky to have such great friends!

What do you like most about being on the rodeo road? Friends!! Love to compete but getting away from work and seeing everyone is great!!

What do you like least about the rodeo road? That I live in Sidney and I have to leave a day earlier than anyone to get anywhere!!

What was your favorite 2010 Montana rodeo/committee (how did the committee make it special)? Libby! They worked the ground for hours and cared very much about the contestants! The food was fantastic—especially the cookies! And there was a band and drink tickets too!!

What was your best rodeo moment of 2010? I don’t know if I had a certain moment, the whole year was just really fun! But if I had to pick it was probably winning my first indoor rodeo on Chucky!

Besides pro rodeos do you compete in other rodeo or barrel racing organizations? UBRC. Ross and Casey Wagner do a great job!!

What are your rodeo plans in 2011?
Probably just the circuit rodeos again—maybe a few big rodeos like Cheyenne along the way!

What kind of tack and bits do you use on your horse? Judy Myllymaki/Dave Elliott bits and Carolina bits. Coats saddle and a Pro-Ortho Equine Boots.

What do you feed your horse? Grass hay and Strategy/Oats/Summer heat

What do you do for a warm-up and do you have any superstitions or rituals before a run? Nothing out of the ordinary—I warm up early and let him sit cuz he gets pretty wound up.

What do you do during the week to keep your horse in shape? Barrel stations and just riding out in fields

Tell us about your family. Park is my hubby—the love of my life and I have 3 outstanding stepkids: Bridger (she is 17), Ryder (he is 14) and Soda (she is 10). I am very lucky to have such a loving family, which also includes my very supportive mom and dad, plus my 9 horses!

What’s your occupation, besides barrel racing? I own the Cattle-ac, which is a nightclub, restaurant and casino.
