2021 Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finalist Jacey Fortier

Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? What are their lifetime earnings?
Teddy – LTE of over $60,000 running barrels, team roping and breakaway roping

What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths?
Teddy has a unique personality. Everyone knows Teddy. He has very little patience. But every time I back in the box he gives me 100%.

When did you start competing in breakaway?
I was around 9 when I started roping.

Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines?
We raise our own horses for the most part. I look for something with some run and good athletic ability.

What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)?
I exercise my horses 3-4 times a week and practice on them 2 times a week.

When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books?

The Gauge, The Tyson Durfey Show, and lots of music.

Do you have a rodeo idol and reasons why?
I look up to a lot of people for different reasons. Joe B, Cody Ohl, Tyson Durfey

Do you have favorite spots to stop at while on the road?
I have favorite gas stations. Most of them is because of cheaper fuel or easy to get in and out of.

Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig?
I travel with Anna Callaway, Sarah Verhelst and Joey Williams our rig changed a lot depending on the weekend. I also have a border collie dog that goes with me named Jimmy.

What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2021 circuit finals?
The whole summer was fun but probably the most memorable was the week of Sheridan. I took Teddy to Sheridan and when I got there he had some fill in one leg I got him through two runs down there and placed good. When I got home I switched horses and took Turbo to 2 NRA rodeo's and Stanford. He hadn't ran a breakaway calf in over a year. We placed at one of the NRA's and split the win at Stanford with a 1.8. It was a good week even with some struggles.
