Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? Bridget – I purchased her as a 3-year-old, starting her ranching and moved into roping shortly after. She’s 7 now. LTE- $30K+. This will be her second time at the finals.
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? Bridget is kind and pretty easy going. My oldest daughter has ran barrels on her the last 2 years and just passed her down to my younger daughter. She takes such great care of them. She’s short and wide, 14.2 and weighs 1150.
When did you start competing in breakaway? Around 12 years old.
How long have you been a WPRA member? This is my third year as a member.
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? Most of our current horses come from the Cowan Select Ranch south of Chinook. We usually buy them as 3-year-olds and use them on the ranch as we train them for roping and barrels. Because I have liked Bridget (Catty Hawk bred) so much, I bought have a 3- and 4-year-old with the same breeding. We also have a couple of Dual Reys that we will be likely riding in the upcoming season.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? I try to ride or rope 4-5 times week and do some form of cardio daily. My kids keep me busy playing sports, games, and riding with them, Horse tag is probably their favorite!
When you’re headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? My girls run most of the music and are currently replaying lots of Zach Bryan.
Do you have favorite spots to stop at while on the road? We always try to find fun things to do whether swimming, golfing, etc.
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? Traveling down the road is a family event for us (my husband Nolan, daughter Addi (11) and daughter Deni (8).
Ford F-350 from Bill Fick and Platinum stock combo. My husband is a calf roper, steer wrestler and team roper, I breakaway, and our two daughters also compete so we are usually hauling 6-7 head of horses wherever we go.
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2023 circuit finals?
All the memories made with my family and friends are what makes rodeo so amazing! Seeing my kids grow and develop as competitors while cheering on mom and dad is definitely a highlight of mine.
What or who are you thankful for? Always thankful for my husband, two girls, family, friends, and horsepower! Couldn’t do it without all of them.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? Rodeo, ranching, skiing, swimming, boating, and following my girls around for softball, basketball, volleyball, and dance.
