Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? TM He Be Gee Be and
GR Blue Rue (2015 Bay Roan Mare by Salt N Peppys out of R Bahila Pequeno by Beaus Double Bid, Montana Bred)
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)?
Hebe truly loves his people. The more time you spend with him the better he is going to run. He is super easy going as long as he has all his favorite things and he travels great. Hebe is 16’2 hands and weighs around 1,370 lbs.
When did you start competing in barrels? I grew up going to local 4H rodeos, Jr.High rodeos, and High School rodeos, but really started to take running barrels seriously in college.
How long have you been a WPRA member? Since 2019
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines?
Hebe is the only horse that is currently in my trailer that I bought, the rest were raised on the ranch. I love Dash Ta Fames, but when it comes down to it I look for athletic ability over bloodlines.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)?
I ride all my horses out in the pivots and on the mountain to help build their stamina and top line. I also do a ton of footwork and drills to help with their fast twitch muscles.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? I listen to a ton of different podcasts and music.
What or who are you thankful for?
I am thankful for all my horses and support system. Each horse I have had in the trailer has taught valuable skills whether it be from losing or winning.
I have the best support system out there. My mom loves my horses just as much as I do, her and my dad have invested so much time and money into my dream. I don’t know what I would do without them. My fiance is also always helping me throughout the year, keeping my horses shod, watching my runs, helping me travel when he can, and riding other horses that I am not able to get to. I am so thankful for everyone in my corner.
Do you have favorite spots to stop at while on the road? I love Maverick gas stations, their fuel is always the cheapest and they have the largest selection for food.
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig?
I always have my dog Harlo with me - she is a border collie corgi mix. I was fortunate to travel with some great friends throughout the season and my Mom always jumped in to help when she could as well.
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2023 circuit finals? My favorite memory from 2023 was winning the Great Falls Pro Rodeo in August. Hebe was TERRIBLE before my run, he almost jumped over the barrier of the track because he was so scared of the wagon pulled by mules. I was just happy I was able to get him over to the arena, so when he made the run he did I just kinda laughed. He always keeps me on my toes and makes some funny memories.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in?
I work for a Digital Marketing and Web Design company so I stay pretty busy throughout the year and summer.
