Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? JL Redwood
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)?
Redwood is such a gentleman, so that’s unique for a barrel horse, haha. He is like a big puppy dog that loves people and loves to please. He’s 15.1 HH and weighs 1,360 lbs!
When did you start competing in barrels?
I think I started attempting to compete barrel racing when I was 10 or so.
How long have you been a WPRA member?
Since 2010
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? I do both, I have one mare I breed and usually buy them as weanlings or yearlings. I’ve bought a lot of horses from Jill Lane and have for 10+ years now.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? I ranch on them and rope on them. Redwood is really fun to head on, so I rope on him all winter mostly. I ride out a lot, up and down hills, long trot and lope, and also do short work in the arena loping small circles and rollbacks. But any chance I have to do a job on them I try to take it.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? Five Finger Death Punch… and the money barrel podcast.
What or who are you thankful for? I am thankful for my stepdad, Tink Elordi for teaching me everything I know and holding me accountable for everything. I am very thankful for Delon, he’s also taught me a lot and is the one who encourages me to go and makes me feel like I am capable.
Do you have favorite spots to stop at while on the road?
Anywhere with big pens for my horses!
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? My boyfriend Delon Parker and my very special chihuahua, Chula. If we’re forced to take Delon's semi, Clifford, we do, or my Ford and a stock trailer.
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2023 circuit finals?
Highlights of my 2023 season would have to be splitting 3/4 at the Livingston Roundup and winning Augusta. I was very fortunate this year with minimal vehicle or trailer problems.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? I love to team rope.
