Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? Dropit Likeitz Hott (Scandal)
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? Scandal is a sassy mare. She is small and mighty! Her strength is how hard she tries running and stopping. She is 13.3 hands - not exactly sure of her weight but she is as wide as she is tall!
When did you start competing in breakaway? 8 years old
How long have you been a WPRA member and how many finals qualifications? 4 years. 4 circuit finals qualifications.
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? We purchase and I am usually looking for bloodlines that resemble Scandals' breeding. I also prefer mares as I have had good experiences with them.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? Scandal mostly just gets exercised. I only rope on her a couple times if we are preparing to go somewhere soon. I try to workout/weight train 4-5 days/week.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? All of the above. Trey Johnson Ministries podcasts are a favorite.
Do you have favorite spots to stop or snacks while on the road? I never drive by a Taco Time, a coffee shop, or a place to get a huckleberry milkshake!
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? We have a truck and living quarters trailer. We travel as a family. My husband, Landon, calf ropes and we have 3 kids. We always take the kids' ponies!
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2024 circuit finals? Our favorite memories are getting to travel with our kids and go do fun things while we have down time. Going to the Columbia Falls waterpark was a favorite this past summer as well as going to the lake at Bigfork. Obstacles always include roping better, scoring better and navigating who is watching the kids while Landon and I rope at the rodeos!
What or who are you thankful for? My husband, Landon, is always there to support, push calves, help with our kids all while he tries to rope as well. My parents, Clay and Roxie, were also a big help this season watching the kids so we could compete in multiple events! Grateful for my three kids, Honor, Wyatt, and Win. They love going to all the rodeos.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? I love to ski. We don't get to do it as much as we used to but it's one of my favorite things to do outside of rodeo.
