Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? MqQueen (MM WHIZERY N CHEX)
What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? McQueen has one of the biggest personalities I’ve ever seen in a horse. When he is fresh, he’ll buck, and he loves his personal space, and he means all business when it’s time to rope. 14.3 and 1,000 lbs
When did you start competing in breakaway? Sixth grade
How long have you been a WPRA member and how many finals qualifications? 2 years. 2023 I was on my permit and 2024 was my rookie year. This is my first finals.
Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? I do both, my sister Jessie and I look for horses together. Jessie owns McQueen, she bought him in in 2019 as a 6-year-old. I’m not picky about bloodlines as long as they try.
What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? McQueen gets rode every day and when we’re home we help my dad on the ranch.
When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books? I listen to podcasts, music, audio books
Do you have favorite spots to stop or snacks while on the road? I love stopping at different coffee shops, and one of my favorite drinks from gas stations is Cola Celsius and my favorite snack Tajin Mangos.
Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? Callie Otoupalik, my dog Spot. Callie and I like to play rig roulette, honestly whichever one is running properly.
What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2024 circuit finals? Favorite Memories: Driving all night to a rodeo and having 2 extra hours when we got there and instead of sleeping we just played cards. Highlights: Winning Stanford, Montana, and Elgin, Oregon
What or who are you thankful for? This year was full of challenges but I’m very thankful for my family, who always supported me and helped me when I was on the road. My oldest Jessie for letting me use her horse all the time and Frankie for letting me take her trailer everywhere. Callie for always knowing what to say to me when things didn’t go right, and being another big sister to me.
What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? Watching movies, and playing cards
